The Chantilly High boys’ soccer team opened the spring season with a pair of home games last week – a 1-1 tie versus non-Northern Region opponent Broad Run (Dulles District) on Tuesday, March 13, and a tough 1-0 loss to region opponent Thomas Jefferson High on Thursday, March 15.
In the deadlock versus the Spartans from Broad Run (Ashburn), Chantilly’s Billy Germain scored on a header shot off a crossing pass from teammate Mannaan Umar.
In the setback to Jefferson, the visiting Colonials’ score came from Victor Weiss late in the second half.
The Chargers, members of the Concorde District, were scheduled to play two games this week – a road contest on Wednesday, March 21 at Lake Braddock Secondary (Patriot District), and a home match versus South County (Patriot District) this Friday night at 7.
Friday’s contest versus the Stallions will be a special Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) night at Chantilly. CYA youngsters, who are accompanied by a paying adult, will be allowed into the high school game for free as long as they are wearing their team jersey.
CYA players and families as well as other Chargers’ soccer fans are encouraged to come to both the JV and varsity games on Friday, with the Chantilly JV squad kicking things off at 5:30. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Concessions are available. Chantilly High is located at 4201 Stringfellow Rd., Chantilly, Va. 20151.
Chantilly High boys’ soccer is looking for CYA players who would like to be a part of the Chargers’ game day action by being ball boys or girls for home games. Ball boys/girls get into the games for free. Ball boys/girls are needed for the following home games: Friday, March 23; Wednesday, April 18; Monday, April 30; Monday, May 7; and Thursday, May 10.
